Noah Bartosiewicz Nouvel Catholic Central High School, Saginaw, Michigan. Class of 2019. Instrument: percussion, Director: Gina Provenzano.

Maria Brockamp Morrisonville High School, Morrisonville, IL. Class of 2019. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Jessica Thurman.

Neida Jakeline Figon Southern Lee High School, Sanford, NC. Class of 2019. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Angela Matthews. Neida Figon is the child of Diana Rodriguez and Cesar Figon. She doubles on clarinet and oboe. She is the clarinet section leader in band and is an excellent leader. She is calm and collected under fire, no matter what the circumstances. She is involved in multiple student organizations on campus other than band. She is a valuable asset to the music program at SLHS. 

Kenneth Gornor Pearl River High School, Pearl River, Louisiana. Class of 2019. Instrument: Alto Sax, Director: Stephen Abadie. Kenny is a very gifted and musical student. His time at PRHS he performed with multiple Honor Bands on multiple instruments (Alto, Tenor and Bari Sax & Double Bass)

Colin Hallahan Old Lyme High School, Old Lyme, Connecticut. Class of 2019. Instrument: Flute, piccolo, guitar, Director: Jacob Wilson.

Dora Hussong Commerce high school, Commerce, OK. Class of 2019. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Jason S. Dunn. Dora is a leader among her peers. She served as drum major for 2 years. She has made 2 honor bands and qualified for state 3 years.

Abemhel M. Ilasin Otay Ranch High School, Chula Vista, CA. Class of 2020. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Shafer Burnett. Abby has been an exceptional member of Otay Ranch High School's music program. She consistently inspires confidence and determination in her peers and has been extremely useful during my first year as the new director. She always has a positive attitude and plays exceptionally well. She always ensures that her section is squared away, sounds good, and doesn't waste time.

Michael Labate Nicholas Senn High School, Chicago, Illinois. Class of 2019. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Markeise R. Russell.

Claire LaFrombois Valley Troubadours Homeschool Music Program, Appleton, WI. Class of 2019. Instrument: Oboe (Bari Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, Percussion), Director: Catherine LaFrombois. Claire has served in many ensembles as a performer and assistant. She is an outstanding student, and has demonstrated leadership skills by directing tin whistle classes.

Hannah Martindale Junction City High School, Junction City, AR. Class of 2019. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Katie Nugent. Hannah began playing in the 7th grade and went on to be drum major of the high school band as well as co-captain of the colorguard.

Mason McCool Pickens Academy, Carrollton, Alabama. Class of 2020. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jason Jackson.

Martin Missey Neuse Charter School, Smithfield, NC. Class of 2019. Instrument: French Horn, Director: Leah Williams. I am honored to recommend Martin Missey as a candidate for John Philip Sousa Band Award. As his high school band director for the past three years, I have had the pleasure of watching Martin grow as a student, musician and person. Martin is an outstanding academic student, he is an excellent athlete and he is extremely active in the band program.

Andrew Mortarelli Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, Bridgewater, MA. Class of 2019. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Sandra Medeiros. Andrew has been a dedicated musician throughout his time in the music department. He has been an outstanding leader and his love of music and the band has always shown through in his actions.

Yewande Olumide CREC Metropolitan Learning Center for Global and International Studies, Bloomfield, CT. Class of 2020. Instrument: Violin, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Director: Elizabeth Campbell. Yewande is an incredibly dedicated professional. As Assistant Band Director, she brought creativity and poise to the position. She serves as Co-President of our Tri-M Chapter, and advocates for music for all. She truly is deserving of this award.

Gerson Oronia Chaparral High School, Chaparral, NM. Class of 2019. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Adrian Rios. Gerson is the first student to make the all state band at Chaparral High School. He also made state all four years, has recieved scholarships to UTEP and NMSU for music. Maintains a GPA of at least 3.8 and is an active member of his church. 

Gracie Oven Engadine Consolidated Schools, Engadine, Michigan. Class of 2019. Instrument: Alto Saxophone/Piano, Director: Casey Snyder. Gracie has been a mainstay in the Engadine High School Band for the past 4 years, and two years under Mr. Casey Snyder. Gracie has shined in her senior year in band, bouncing back between alto sax and piano without missing a beat and providing a very positive role model for her fellow peers to follow in the ensemble.

Dawson Ozborn McLaurin High School, Florence, MS. Class of 2019. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Jennifer L. Griffin. Dawson Ozborn is a natural born leader, wonderful student, and excellent musician. As drum major, he has led the band fearlessly in the face of adversity and been awarded superior ratings at contest. Outside of the band world, he is highly respected by his peers, teachers, and administration for his work ethic, respectfulness, and reliability.

Soo Bin Park Jakarta Intercultural School, Jakarta, Indonesia. Class of 2019. Instrument: Flute, Director: Mr. Russell Wiemers.

Michael Powell Riddle Jr./Sr. High School, Riddle, Oregon. Class of 2019. Instrument: Alto Saxophone, Director: Karalyn Soffer.

Joaquin Quintero Otay Ranch High School, Chula Vista, California. Class of 2019. Instrument: Flute, Director: Shafer Burnett. Joaquin Quintero is a star flute player, his knowledge of musical concepts, pedgogy, and history sometimes exceed that of my own. He is consistently willing to help his peers out when they are struggling musically. He was my Marching Band drum major for 2 years and flute section leader for 3.

Courtney Sawyers Bluefield High School, Bluefield, WV. Class of 2019. Instrument: Saxophone, French Horn, Director: Nick Hinkle. Courtney Sawyers was the 2019 recipient from Bluefield High School in Bluefield WV. Courtney was a 4 year member of the Marching and Concert Bands. Courtney participated in multiple regional honor bands and served as the Drum Major in her senior year.

Sarah Seifert Osborne Junior Senior High School, Osborne, K. Class of 2019. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Kelli Burrus. 

Breon Walker Coastal Leadership Academy , Myrtle Beach , South Carolina. Class of 2019. Instrument: Drum, Director: Angel Thompson. Breon Walker is a Senior at Coastal Leadership Academy. He is a strong leader within the school and has proved to be motivated to thrive and succeed. Breon's desire to learn beyond just the basics.
