Gabrielle Ellison Parish Episcopal School, Dallas, TX. Class of 2020. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Ruth Williams. Gabrielle Ellison is a student who exhibits all characteristics of an outstanding band student. She works incredibly hard, and is a true leader in the band program at Parish Episcopal School.

Andrew Fleitas Coral Shores High School, Tavernier, Florida. Class of 2018. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Suzanne Gagliardini. Andrew started playing trombone in 6th grade. Since then, his musicianship has grown exponentially. He is a regular first chair in our District and All County Honor Bands and is enthusiastic about all about all aspects of music, be it theory, composition, vocal or instrumental. Andrew intends on pursuing a minor in Musical Performance at FSU next Fall.

Francisco Josue Gama Lawrence County High School, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Class of 2018. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Troy Morris. Josue has been a consistent, unwavering influence in our band program. His excellence is evident in everything he does. And he always knows his part. He has taught the entire drumline for me all year long. It is with the utmost respect that I nominate Josue for the John Phillips Sousa Award.

Shanti Johnson Dayton High School, Dayton, Nevada. Class of 2020. Instrument: Flute, Director: Joshua Strickland. Shanti has consistently striven to improve her craft. She's a very talented young musician and has the capability to go far in music. She's a valued asset to our program, here at DHS.

Jenna Juras Fallbrook high school , Fallbrook, California. Class of 2018. Instrument: Flute, Director: Derek Lee.

Yena Kang International School of Beijing, Beijing, China. Class of 2018. Instrument: Flute, Director: Nathan Long. Yena participated in High School Concert Band, composed music, led sectionals, went to APAC honor festivals and mentored beginning students. Yena has had a passion for music for as long as I've known her. She is a natural leader and is looked up to by her fellow students. She is a talented musician with a big heart.

Shane R Klasna North Platte St. Patrick's High School, North Platte, NE. Class of 2018. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Jennifer Winder. Shane is a determined individual who has performed solos at competition for all four years of his high school career. Shane is a a faith-filled individual who will work hard to achieve his goals. Shane is a joy to have in class and proves to be a leader over and over again by helping out the underclassmen trumpet players as well.

Sven Kuhne University Preparatory Academy, San Jose, California. Class of 2018. Instrument: Tuba, Trombone and Euphonium, Director: Jemal Ramirez. Sven was a team player from day one in band. He started on the euphonium his beginning band year. I asked him to switch to trombone and he did so with pride. When I asked his band if anyone was interested in switching to Tuba—Sven did. He was a pillar in our low brass section 7th grade through 11th grade. Though he did not take band his 12th grade year he did play in a concert with us his senior year.

Emily LaMark Fort Cherry Junior/Senior High School, McDonald, Pennsylvania. Class of 2018. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Matt Nelson. Emily has been involved in every aspect of our band program. Very strong leader and trombone player. Great representative of what this award encompasses.

Hailey Mallett Iola Independent School District, Iola, TX. Class of 2018. Instrument: Flute, Director: Amy Johnson. Multiple year Region Band member and Area qualifier. Qualified for state with flute solo at State Solo and Ensemble 2017 and 2018. Drum Major for 2 years.

Stephen Martin Lac qui Parle Valley, Madison, MN. Class of 2018. Instrument: French Horn, Director: Nichole Markworth. 

Jon Neilsen Timpanogos High School, Orem, UT. Class of 2019. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Christopher Nelson. Jon Neilsen has gone from one of the weakest beginners in the band to an absolute force to be reckoned with in all aspects of our band program. A positive leader in and out of rehearsal, and a person with high personal integrity.

Mollie Olson St. Mary Catholic High School, Neenah, Wisconsin. Class of 2018. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Pamela Barnhill. 

Daniela Orozco King City High School, King City, California. Class of 2018. Instrument: Tenor Saxophone, Director: Jillian Kling. Daniela has performed in Concert and Jazz Band throughout her time at KCHS. She currently plays in both settings, and she served as the Drum Major in the fall.

Brooke Parker East Paulding High School, Dallas, GA. Class of 2018. Instrument: Bassoon, Director: Michael Thomas. Brooke played flute and bassoon and was the drum major for 3 years.

Wesley Phillips Bethesda Christian School, Brownsburg, Indiana. Class of 2018. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Mike Linville.
