Olivia Adams St. James Academy, Lenexa, Kansas. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Harp, Percussion & Viola, Director: Helen Harrelson. Olivia Adams was a member of Concert Band and Drum Line for four years and String Orchestra for her junior and senior years. She served as Student President in her senior year. Olivia plans to study music business at Belmont University.

Ashlee Ahlrich Kimball Area High School, Kimball, MN. Class of 2015. Instrument: Tenor Saxophone, Director: Timothy Rahkola. Ashlee is a dedicated individual who holds music as a passion. She will continue making music part of her life as she moves on to college.

Nicholas Ajemian Lutheran High School of Orange County, Orange, California. Class of 2015. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Aaron Zeilinger. Nicholas (Nico) Ajemian has been a stalwart, dedicated and dependable student for the entire year. He was always the first person to volunteer for extra work and the last person to leave at any event. If I had to choose one person to represent the program at Lutheran High School of Orange County, I would send Nicholas in a heart beat.

Samantha Aldridge Manchester High School, Manchester, Ohio. Class of 2015. Instrument: Horn, Director: Kevin Sucher. Samantha, Was a French Horn player for Manchester high School. Upon Graduation Samantha is now working towards her Bachelors in Music Education at LSU!

Elliott Andrade East Hall High School, Gainesville, Georgia. Class of 2015. Instrument: Horn, Director: J. Craig Cantrell. As a participant in the Georgia All-State Band and numerous Honor Bands, Elliott Andrade was one of the premier musicians of his graduating class. Along with his incredible musical strengths, Elliott also served as an exceptional leader in the band program and beyond. He will be attending the Archdiocese of New Orleans in the Fall 2015.

Nathan Arnold South Sumter High School, Bushnell, FL. Class of 2015. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Pete Perrone. Nathan found his place in band at South Sumter Middle School and continued to flourish as a great tuba player all through high school. Auditioned and performed with FBA Dist. 19 All-District Concert Band 3 times between middle and high school.

Leif Atchley Ridgeland High School, Rossville, Georgia. Class of 2015. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Rick Chambers. Leif is a graduating senior, a member of this band for 4 years and a wonderful musician. He plays in college and professional level orchestras and ensembles as well as starting a few of his own in the community and here at school. He is a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition, an active member of the International Trumpet Guild and looks to take his many talents, drive and love of music on to perform globally and teach the trumpet at the collegiate level hoping to pass on the inspiration that has given him with so much.

Amanda Ayriss DeWitt High School, DeWitt, Michigan. Class of 2015. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Mike Norman. Amanda participated in Marching Band, Concert Band, Pops Band and Symphonic Band during her high school career. She demonstrated great leadership mentoring younger students. Amanda also served the music program volunteering her time and skills beyond the required classroom setting.

Clifford James Avery Christian Brothers Academy, Albany, New York. Class of 2015. Instrument: Tenor Saxophone, Director: Mrs Sarah Waite. Clifford James Avery began studying music at the age of five and performed in his first recital on piano at seven. He has been playing saxophone since the fourth grade. In addition to the sax he also plays electric bass, guitar and drums. He is currently attending college at Buffalo State College.

Abby Beach Lexington High School, Lexington, MO. Class of 2016. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Brandin Bovay. During her time at Lexington, Abby has taken multiple solos/ensembles to district and state contest. She has also been section leader since her arrival to high school band. She has also served as Drum Major for two consecutive years. Abby's loyalty, attitude and dedication is unparalleled.

Samuel Joseph Blair Westerville South High School, Westerville, Ohio. Class of 2015. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: John Laswell. Samuel has a passion for all music. He started playing baritone in sixth grade and has continued to refine his musical talents with the Euphonium, Bass Trombone, Tuba and Sousaphone. Sam is pursuing Music Education at Ohio University in the Fall of 2015. He also plans to audition for the Marching 110. During his high school career, he performed in the WSHS marching band for five years, beginning in eighth grade. He performed with the Columbus Youth Symphonic Band as first chair Euphonium for two years. He was also first chair Euphonium in WSHS Wind Symphony and performed with the WSHS Jazz Band playing bass trombone. Other musical accomplishments include pit orchestra in three WSHS theatre performances, and playing euphonium and tuba in his church choir.

Marissa Brady Dumas High School, Dumas, TX. Class of 2015. Instrument: Flute, Director: Rudy R. Sanchez. Marissa was an outstanding student and leader during her high school years. She earned placements in the All-Region and All Area Bands. She qualified to State Solo and Ensemble Contest all four years in high school. She earned the Division "I" rating on her solos in 2013 and 2014.

Tayler Sky Bradley Jesup High School, Jesup, Iowa. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Sarah Quesnell. Tayler has gone above and beyond in the band department and set an incredible standard and example for her peers. She is more than deserving of this prestigious award!

Caroline Broadway Leonard High School, Leonard, Texas. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Devin Turk. Caroline Broadway made history by becoming the first All-State musician for Leonard High School in Leonard, TX. She achieved this honor her junior year (2014-2015). She repeated this honor by earning 4th chair Clarinet in the Association of Texas Small School Bands 4A Symphonic Band in 2015.

Jocelyn Brodsky Xenia High School, Xenia, Ohio. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Zavaan Johnson. Jocelyn played clarinet in the Symphonic, Pep, and Marching Bands. She served as section leader for woodwinds and an inspirational member of these bands. Several future student leaders cited her example as to why they wanted to become leaders themselves. Jocelyn plans to attend Bowling Green State University.

Samantha Butler Loganville Christian Academy, Loganville, Ga. Class of 2015. Instrument: Tuba, Director: Adam Ralston. Samantha was a member of the LCA Band for all of 6th-12th grade and a member of the Lion's Pride Marching Band for 7th-12th grade culminating in her becoming the 2014 Drum Major for the marching band. Samantha's leadership and work ethic are second to none.

Raymond Byeon Yongsan International School of Seoul, Seoul, South Korea. Class of 2016. Instrument: Percussion, Director: Jessica Zakula. Raymond is an amazing student who has such a natural talent for music and is willing to share his music in any capacity. He is a strong leader in the music department mentoring other students and serving on our Music Service Team. Even at his Junior year, he is very highly deserving of this award and embodies all the characteristics that it recognizes.

Zoe Monet Kizzee Cagan High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Houston, TX. Class of 2015. Instrument: Flute, Director: Stephen G. Crawford. 

Florentina Campion Germantown Central School, Germantown, NY. Class of 2015. Instrument: Flute, Director: Daniel W. Galliher. Having sat first chair in the Germantown band for nine years, played in the All-County and Area All-State bands, improvised in the jazz band, and performed in several school pit orchestras, Florentina is an incredibly well-rounded musician. The fact that she has done all of these activities at the highest level possible makes her the perfect J.P. Sousa award recipient.

Billy Carpenter Williamstown High School, Williamstown, KY. Class of 2015. Instrument: Euphonium, Director: Chris Hedges. Billy is a scholar, musician, athlete, and thespian. He has a very bright future!

Leia Carter School for Creative and Performing Arts, Cincinnati, Ohio. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: David Burchfield. Leia has been the Principal Clarinetist in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Ohio All State Orchestra for the past 2 years. She has been awarded the Dean's Scholarship, which is a 4 year 100% tuition, fees, books, and housing award at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.

He is currently a music major at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas studying trumpet with Dr. Gary Wurtz.

Neil Cole Shiloh High School, Snellville, Georgia. Class of 2015. Instrument: Oboe, Director: Barrett Alexander. Neil Cole was a very phenomenal young man. During his time in High School he was principle oboist in the Symphonic Band and lead tenor in the Jazz Band. He was an inspiration for many of his peers and taught many of the younger students how to read and play music. He has earned many honors such as district honor band, becoming principle Oboe in Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, winning a spot in the prestigious Metro Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble and winning the Omega Psi Phi talent hunt music competition. Neil is attending Georgia State University to study Music Performance or Music Education.

Amy Cook Waterloo High School, Waterloo, WI. Class of 2015. Instrument: Trumpet, Director: Michael Becker. Participant in band and jazz band; Drum major (2014-15), Band President (2014-15). Amy is a strong leader and is always the first one to master her music. This passion encourages others to do the same.

Amy Cook Elkton High School, Elkton, MD. Class of 2015. Instrument: Mellophone/Clarinet, Director: Daniel Reynolds. Amy is an outstanding student. She was a four year member of both marching and concert band, attended several honor bands, made All County Band 4 times, All County Orchestra once, and attending State Solo and Ensemble several times. He dependability and dedication was second to none.

Kayla Cooney White Oak High School, Jacksonville, NC. Class of 2015. Instrument: Flute, Director: Perry Ditch/Kevin Day. Kayla Cooney has made several All-County, All-District and All-State Honors band. She has studied privately with Anne Searl and will pursue music education degree at Stetson University. She also performed with the Macy's All American Band in the Macy's day parade.

Victoria Cooper Wilson Christian Academy, Wilson, North Carolina. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Steven Ainsworth. Victoria exhibited those traits that exemplify the criteria for the Sousa Award. Victoria was loyal to the school and the band program and was always willing to assist in making the program successful.

Sierra Crout Middletown Christian School, Middletown, Ohio 45044. Class of 2016. Instrument: drums, Director: Cheryl Riegel. Sierra has attended our school since kindergarten. She has been a member of our band programs since Jr.High. She studied privately with a drum teacher for several years. Sierra has excellent skills. She is also very willing use them on any occasion. She has done mini workshops for the elementary drum section and has helped other instrument sections. Her rhythm is a+ she is always on the mark. Lia Dang Holy Cross Catholic Academy, Amarillo, Texas. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Emily Grandmaison. This is Lia's second year in band. She has been a marvelous studentto teach. Her contributions to our program have helped us to gain experience when working with a student whose first language is not English. She respectful and always asks for help when she needs it. Lia is pleasent, outgoing and gets along with her peers. Musically, she has grown so much in a very short time. I comntinue to be impressed with her progress. As this is her graduating year, I hope and pray she continues to play her instrument and sing, making music for everyone. Job well done!

Andrew Dunning Dana Hills High School, Dana Point, CA. Class of 2015. Instrument: Clarinet, Director: Andrew Dunning. Andrew is a hard-working leader who captained the band's front ensemble to three first-place finishes in competition over two years, and served as Band President for one year. He served at least two years in every band ensemble in the music program, including eight musical theater productions and six large concerts. He is proficient in clarinet and bass clarinet, piano, and organ.

Taylor Morgan Duren American Christian Academy, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Class of 2015. Instrument: Trombone, Director: Heather M. Henson. Taylor Duren is the recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award at American Christian Academy for a second year. This is only the third year for the award to be presented in our young program. Taylor was selected to the Alabama All-State Red Band in her senior year and was also an All-State member for two previous years. Taylor is pursuing a Music Education degree from The University of Alabama. The instrumental music program began in 2008, and we began presenting this award in 2013. The class of 2015 is our first class of senior band members.

Though his main instrument is tenor saxophone, he also learned to play the euphonium while in high school and served as Drum Major of the Serra High School Golden Regiment Marching Band and Color Guard for two years before graduating. He will be majoring in Music Education at California State University, Long Beach starting in the Fall of 2015.

John also earned a chair in the TN All-West Honor Band for the last several years, as well as the All-State Band in 2014.

He participated in the DODEA Far East Jazz and Modern Music Festival and the DODEA Far East Music Festival. In his school he played string and electric bass for the jazz band, concert band and string ensemble. He is now enlisted in the U.S. Marines and continues to enjoy his music as a hobby.

Has been 1st Chair in the All-County Band, 2nd Chair in the All-District Band, UNCW and UNCG Honor Band Clinics, the Tri-State Honors Chamber Winds Festival at Radford University and the US Army All-American Marching Band. He will be pursuing music education at Appalachian State University.

Amanda Paulsen was a dedicated member of the Granville High School music program throughout her high school career. She was a member of the high school symphonic band, and steel drum bands. She also performed in the pit orchestra for the musical productions and the local youth orchestra. She will be attending Ohio University to study music education.

This person is incredibly smart, talented, and someone everyone can look up to. A leader of our band program, this person is the first to arrive and the last to leave. These are the type of leaders who have the most impact - those who are willing to devote their complete time and energy into making everyone around them better. His charisma is second to none and he is not afraid to share his big personality with anyone who is willing to listen. Whether it be an awkward dating story or a long-winded, yet incredibly inspiring speech, the impact he has had on our program is everlasting. Not only is he academically at the top of his graduating class, his peers recognize him as one of the most valuable members of the band program.

Joe has been selected to perform in many Honor Ensembles throughout his high school career including the NYSBDA All-State Jazz Ensemble and the NYSSMA Conference All-State Symphony Orchestra. Joe is passionate about music and plans to attend New York University (NYU) to major in Jazz Studies and Music Performance. He hopes to perform professionally.

Cheng Chin (May) Wu Yongsan International School of Seoul, Seoul, South Korea. Class of 2015. Instrument: Saxophone/Trumpet, Director: Jessica Zakula. May has been a dedicated member of Concert Band, Jazz Band, Full Orchestra, Pep Band and Tri-M. She has also been selected as a member of the National Honors Band for 2 years.
